wahh-zoh?

<span class=

So, I have been digging on Mr. Oizo since he dropped "When Analog Worms Attack," and he continues to bring the heat.

Mr. Oizo (pronounced Mister Wah-zoh) is the pseudonym of French music producer Quentin Dupieux.

Dupieux is most famous for his electro track 'Flat Beat', which became a hit all across Europe in 1999 as it was featured in a series of Levi's jeans TV commercials. Dupieux also directed the ad, which featured a yellow puppet named Flat Eric nodding his head to the sound of the track while riding in a pickup truck. Flat Eric later appeared in the music video for "Flat Beat". After "Flat Beat", Oizo released his first album in 1999, Analog Worms Attack, featuring a single of the same name. In 2005, Oizo released his second album entitled Moustache (Half a Scissor). In 2006 and 2007, Oizo produced remixes for Kavinsky, Jamelia, Cassius, Scissor Sisters and, most recently, Calvin Harris.

Here is a few tracks, new and old, that I've been diggin on.

Mr. Oizo - Jo
Mr. Oizo - Gay Dentists
Mr. Oizo VS. Proxy - Bruce Willis is Dead
Tellier & Oizo & Sebastian - Chivers As Female
Mr. Oizo - Positif (nickY Remix)
Mr. Oizo-Lambs Anger (Noise Floor Crews Tribute to Flat Eric Remix)

Controlling The Digital Crack Masses

99% of what I watch is online now. Be it movies, videos, or the few tv shows of quality, so I laugh when I hear the craziness over digital converters how people aren't ready to switch over. The senate is trying to delay the switch over till June 17th so that people can get their coupons. As if the masses can't go without their reality idol crack! The funny thing is, is who bought the airwaves TV once filled? Any guesses? The fuckin cell phone companys yep just so we can sit in traffic without roaming that much longer. Oh well on to some muzak...

I've gotta throw in some old school to keep it fair...

A-Trak + Erol Alkan = BBC Essential Mix

Photobucket

This mix is basically 120 minutes of pure fire. For the non-believers that doubted A-trak's entrance into the electro scene, this is for you. I was a bit skeptical myself for a while seeing how I have been watching him as a turntablist for years, but after the first few singles he threw out the past couple years, I realized hes no joke. A-Trak starts the mix out and Erol finishes the set out. Stop by A-Traks page and throw some love towards him.

Good bad or just another cover

Photobucket

Everybody hates shitty bands butchering songs that we love, this we know is fact. But for some they relish it, its like a car crash you have to look or in this case give it a minute to listen. So for todays exercise we're going to play a bit of guessing game. Is it going to be good or down right putrid and who the hell is this? Heres a list of song names and you'll see who it is on the flip side. To me theres only two true stinkers.

Here are a couple brand new remixes from NONEWYORK. NONEWYORK is a production team/ DJ duo signed to Acid Jack's Record label Idiot House. The New Guy and a Holy Ghost

Photobucket
So I wanted to start my first post off proper with a group that I think is doing BIG things this year: Holy Ghost!
I started hearing about them early 2008, when the hints of disco were all over the place but no one really wanted to call it that. Which was kinda of ok with me mostly because of the stigma that goes with the 70's disco lifestyle corny ass BeeGees. But todays disco has more to it a certain bboy quality which is what I like to play out at gigs these days. Whether its original material, remixes, or being mashed Holy Ghost! have dance floor killer written all over them.

So check them out here

Diplo + MGMT

So, I was trolling through the blog world and stumbled across a post that had me laughing. I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking this. The good people at Philebrity posted their thoughts, and I couldn't agree more; matter of fact, here is the post:

Diplo Remix Proves The Ineffable, Unquestionable Suckiness Of That MGMT Band

mgmtWe have been silent on this topic for far too long: That band MGMT annoys the living hell out of us. Why? Hard to say. Too Hot Topic, maybe. Too BlogRockBuster, perhaps — our age’s equivalent of the Blockbuster approach to music, like Boston in the 1970s, if Boston actually sucked and did not, as it turned out, rule. So yeah, we winced when we copped the mp3 of Diplo’s remix of the MGMT hit single, “Time To Pretend.” Which is arguably the only MGMT song we’ve ever heard that is worth a damn. And it’s here that we must give Diplodicus a kind of backhanded compliment: While it is usually the remixer’s job to take a single, boil it down to its basic ingredients and then rebuild — thereby proving the track’s unquestionable hook-i-ness — in this case, Diplo’s services reveal that, when boiled down, MGMT remixes prove the unquestionable suckiness of everything this band touches. And, so we are understood, this is not about Diplo’s remixing talents, which are well-established and totally bangin’. This is about MGMT becoming a totem for everything that is unfortunate and wrong about music right at this moment. You don’t believe me? Well, listen:
MGMT: Time to Pretend (Diplo Remix)
Now.. Since you had to hear that, here would be one of my personal favorites

Diplo: Wassup Wassup ft. Rye Rye (Crookers Happy Remix)

TiTAN

I stumbled across this little jammy and thought it was worth sharing. TiTAN has a fresh little newschool disco-house flavor.. guaranteed to keep the ladies on the dance floor. Peep the track and dont forget to swing by their space to show some love. Holla holla.

Riva Starr Remixes

Photobucket

Riva Starr (or Riva $) also be recognizable as Technoey breaks producer Madox has really impressed me recently with his transition over to something more clubby. His upfront driving techno style, tight production skills but also his ability to mix it up is always refreshing. Alot of his remixes are kinda minimalistic electro, but have enough substance to keep you going - It seems a logical way for Riva to go, and works well.

Here, Riva spices up the age old classic 'Sound of Da Police' by KRS One, which has been heard in partys all across the planet for what seems like an eternity. Its a cut-back techno beat with a thudding, rolling tempo. It also cuts and loops 'wooop wooop', which is probably a good thing.

KRS One - Sound of Da Police (Riva Starr Remix)

For wobbly try his take on Pirate Robot Midget :

And for sheer awesomeness (sorry about the quality):

Birdy Nam Nam

Photobucket

Birdy Nam Nam is a DJ crew from France whose members are Crazy-B, DJ Pone, DJ Need, and Little Mike. Birdy Nam Nam have won several prizes throughout their career including the DMC Technics 2002 World TEAM Championships. Birdy Nam Nam's goal is to use the turntable player as an actual musical instrument. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2006 on Uncivilized World Records, and in March of that year, they performed at the internationally-renowned music conference SXSW. The group's name is taken from a line in the 1968 Peter Sellers film The Party, directed by Blake Edwards[1].

They gain their music from friends, owned albums, and press beats and patterns into vinyl to assemble their music live.

Pretty much AMAZING

I have stumbled across pretty much one of the greatest posts throughout all the blogs Ive been too... An outstanding citizen named Luis Tovar put many hours in compiling a list of music blogs for all of us music nerds to enjoy. Make sure to stop by Pretty Much Amazing to give him a big thanks. Here is the post :

Musicbloggers/audiobloggers/MP3bloggers/Etc is a somone who is outspoken, loves to talk about music, and wants to share the obscure and unknown to the world. I praise these people because they input many hours a week to bring you (the reader) the best and newest in Music, may it be Indie, Jazz, Soul, Alt. Rock, or Polka, there is a blog for you. A Musicbloggers/audiobloggers/MP3bloggers/Etc is NOT a person who advocates or takes part of musical piracy advances. They provide an MP3 file free of charge to promote an artist they like, and more often than not, they take the file off when asked to. More experienced Musicbloggers/audiobloggers/MP3bloggers/Etc provide links to the record label and the artist’s personal site.

Being a huge fan of MP3 Blogs, Pretty Much Amazing presents what I think is the most up-to-date resource of MP3 Blogs out there. Keeping track of this phenomenon isn’t easy so please accept our apologies if your MP3 Blog is not included, if you want you blog to be added, please leave a comment below.

NOTE: If you see your blog or want your blog up here, PMA would appreciate a link back (http://prettymuchamazing.com/) Thank you.

Now onto the list! To start things off here is the compilation of ECLECTIC blogs, or blogs that focus on various genres of music. (i.e. Pretty Much Amazing!)

Now for the SOUL/FUNK/R&B blogs:

Next up are the blogs devoted to HIP-HOP/REGGAETON.

Onto the JAZZ blogs:

Blogs who specialize in BLUES/FOLK/OLDTIMEY sound.

ROCK/POP/INDIE blogs who have made the scene:

The ELECTRIC/DJ/MASH-UP blogs:

Explore the artistic MINIMAL/EXPERIMENTAL sounds:

WORLD music blogs:

LABELS/STORES/RADIO STATIONS/NOT-FOR-PROFIT RECORDS, ETC that offer music online:

MP3 Blog AGGREGATORS:

I am sure there are tons of blogs not mentioned here, there are new blogs created daily! If you think your blog deserves to be up here, leave a comment below
